Athlete Spotlight: Brice Abbot’s Power Surge

Brice Abbott's Monumental Summer Success

This past summer marked a pivotal moment in Brice Abbott's athletic journey. It was a period where intense training, technical refinements, and sheer determination converged to produce incredible results. These aren’t just abstract improvements; let's break down the astounding transformation by numbers:

Max Bat Speed:

  • Before: 69.7 mph

  • After: 80.8 mph

  • Change: +11.1 mph

Exit Velocity:

  • Before: 86 mph

  • After: 93.2 mph

  • Change: +7.2 mph

Max Distance:

  • Before: 298 ft

  • After: 348 ft

  • Change: +50 ft

Our assessment pinpointed a specific need: Brice had to load more rotationally into his rear hip. With drills on the tee and off flips, this technique was sharpened and enhanced. Here are some of the drills that we performed:

  • Stance Rotation (45 Open, Athletic, 45 Closed)

  • Hook’em

  • Walking Drop Step

But success in a controlled environment is just half the battle. Real-game situations pose their own challenges. Hence, Brice engaged in competitive sessions off the pitching machine to translate his newfound swing changes into game-time success. Here are some of the machine drills that were incorporated:

  • High Velocity Fastball using a Heavy Bat (37oz)

  • Right Handed Sliders using a Short Bat (28”)

  • Left Handed Cutters using a Long Bat (37")

The culmination of all this hard work?

One of his most productive seasons to date, that ended with his first division one baseball scholarship offer.

On reflecting upon his journey, Brice shares:

“Ashton and I have been working together for over 2 years now. He's played a massive role in shaping the player I've become. Guiding me throughout high school, I'm now seeing the benefit with my first offer, and multiple other recruiting opportunities. Playing Division 1 baseball has always been my dream. Ashton, having shared this vision, continually pushes me, ensuring I always deliver my best on the field."

Brice Abbott’s story is a testament to what's achievable when hard work meets, a structured development plan, and good old fashioned hard work. As Brice steps into a new chapter of his baseball journey, the sky's the limit!
